Making a reservation

  • No. You only need to have a billing address in a country where United offers flight service to book online. We encourage MileagePlus members to sign in before or during the booking process so their travel and payment information can be shared with them.

  • Yes. Just select your billing country at the top of the page. See our list of countries where you can book airline tickets on united.com.

  • Billing address country refers to the country in which you either receive your billing statement from the credit card you plan to use, or the country in which you plan to pay in cash at a Western Union or United ticket office.

  • Yes. You can pay cash at a United ticket office or use PayPal Credit. View the full list of accepted payment options.

  • Yes. You can feel secure using your credit card on united.com because your data is completely encrypted so that it cannot be read by anyone else. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL), an advanced web technology that protects personal information as it travels across the internet. SSL technology is an industry standard supported by Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and other popular web browsers.

  • Yes. MileagePlus members can book a ticket for an unaccompanied minor online.You’ll find more details on our Young flyers traveling alone page.

  • Yes. You can select the number of infants traveling in adult laps in the Travelers section when you’re booking. See our traveling with children policy for details.

  • Yes. You can add your pet to your existing reservation on your “View current reservation” page. Your household cats and dogs, can be carried in a kennel on the aircraft cabin on most United flights in the U.S. The in-cabin pet kennel, which is subject to a service charge each way, can be brought aboard in addition to your carry-on bag. In-cabin pets can be booked online or by calling the United Customer Contact Center at 1-800-UNITED-1 (1-800-864-8331). You’ll find more details on our In-Cabin Pets page.

Booking process

  • See a list of the cities that are served by United and its partners or visit our Timetable Web page to see the latest schedules.

  • If you have an offer code, you can enter it in the field at the bottom of the booking page under Promotions and certificates. If you are redeeming a gift certificate or electronic travel certificate, you can enter it in the payment section during the flight booking process.

  • Yes. You can buy tickets for multiple-destination travel by selecting "Multi-city" under Trip type in the advanced booking path.

  • On united.com we offer instant ticketing that includes a 24-hour refund policy. After purchasing, you can return to your reservation in Manage Reservations to ask for a refund within 24 hours from the time of purchase.

    You can also use our FareLock® service to guarantee your itinerary and the fare you've been quoted for 72 hours or seven days, depending on your selection. Once you have your itinerary and fare on hold with FareLock, you don't have to worry about the price of your itinerary going up or the flight selling out.

  • Yes. Based on the number of travelers in your group, the lowest fare may not be available on a particular flight because of seat availability.

  • Yes. You can place a special needs request on the “Traveler details” page during the booking process. See Customers with disabilities for details. Keep in mind that some special needs assistance is not available on all flights because of aircraft type or other considerations.

  • Flights operated by certain partners require a 24-hour hold so we can make sure your preferred flight and seat are processed with that partner. Once we receive confirmation of your itinerary from the partner airline, we’ll send you an email.

  • You can book a ticket online 330 days before your travel date.

  • You can book up to eight travelers at a time on united.com. For groups of nine travelers, please call 1-800-UNITED-1 (1-800-864-8331) within the U.S. and Canada, or your local United Customer Contact Center. For groups of 10 or more, please contact United GroupsSM for special consideration.

  • Most tickets allow for changes, although a Basic Economy ticket does not. If your ticket can be changed, you can do so in Manage Reservations after purchasing. Keep in mind that a change fee may apply.
