Eat for Good program

Through the Eat for Good program, United proudly partners with Feeding America and Common Threads to help fight hunger and ensure that children have the confidence to make healthy choices about what they eat. Since its inception in 2009, the Eat for Good program has generated more than $1,000,000 in charitable contributions.

Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the U.S. Together they provide food to more than 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America. Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among the people they serve, educates the public about the problem of hunger and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry.

In September 2016, United donated $1 from each Choice Menu snackbox purchase on United-operated flights to Feeding America. In total, we donated $150,000, providing the equivalent of more than 1.6 million meals. Footnote*

Common Threads teaches underserved kids and families to cook for a healthier life, empowering them to make healthy choices in the kitchen and beyond, and to be change agents in their schools and communities. Founded in 2003, Common Threads provides school-based hands-on cooking programs and nutrition education that teaches cooking as an essential life skill that impacts long-term health and quality of life. In 2013, Common Threads launched a nationwide effort to get America's kids "Cooking for Life," and by the end of 2016 alone will have reached more than 68,000 students, parents and teachers.

During the year, we will publish healthy recipes provided by Common Threads in issues of Hemispheres, our inflight magazine.
