Million Miler program

The Million Miler program, a part of the MileagePlus® program, is for members who have flown a million miles or more on our airline. Once you reach this extraordinary milestone, you’ll get lifetime Premier® status as a thank you for your long-term loyalty.

Lifetime Premier status

Premier status earned as a part of the Million Miler program never expires, even if you fly less often in the future.

Status level is based on the total number of miles you’ve flown* on eligible United- and United Express®-operated flights. You can check your lifetime miles balance at any time by logging in to your MileagePlus account.

Million Miler program FAQ

The way we calculate miles has changed over the years. To bring everyone to the same starting point, we recounted the miles in every MileagePlus account in 2011 and added extra Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM). We may recalculate your balance in the future if the MileagePlus program changes.

No, we only allow one Premier companion per Million Miler.

No. Million Miler status is based on flight distance* on United- and United Express-operated flights, not PQP or PQF.

All miles earned on Copa Airlines before July 1, 2015, are included in your lifetime miles balance. Any flights taken on Copa Airlines after this date do not count towards Million Miler status.

All members who have one million lifetime flight miles or more earn annual status benefits for themselves, as well as the option to extend their current Premier status to a companion (defined as a spouse, significant other or individual who resides at the same home address, based on MileagePlus profile information) on an annual basis. Companion benefits are available on an annual, not lifetime, basis. Companion benefits expire upon the death of the Million Miler or failure of the companion to meet the eligibility requirements set forth below, including, but not limited to, death, divorce or separation.

  1. Award miles and Premier Qualifying Credits will not be credited for award travel, including tickets purchased using a combination of miles and money. Members who are not individuals are not eligible to accrue mileage or Premier Qualifying Credits for passenger flight activity.
  2. If your lifetime flight mileage balance is one million miles or more, you are considered a Million Miler and may designate your companion even if you have not yet received any notification from MileagePlus.
  3. You may choose one companion to receive the same Premier level as you currently hold, regardless of whether you have one million lifetime flight miles or more than one million lifetime flight miles.
  4. If you earn a higher Premier level during the program year, your companion will also receive that higher status level. However, if your companion earns a higher Premier level, your account status will not change.

* Flight distance is defined as the miles scheduled for a specific flight, as determined solely by United.

  1. A companion is defined as a spouse, significant other or individual who resides at same home address, based on MileagePlus profile information.
  2. Your companion must be an enrolled member of the MileagePlus program under his or her own name and may not already be the companion of another Million Miler.
  3. The companion benefit is awarded on an annual basis and is nontransferable.
  4. Your companion will receive his or her own individual Premier credentials and does not need to travel with you to use the Premier level awarded.
  5. You may change the companion on your account; however the change will not be in effect until January 1 of the following year. MileagePlus will not be able to accept changes to existing companion nominations during the month of December.

** Companions of Premier Platinum and Premier 1K members are not eligible for PlusPoints.
