These Terms and Conditions ("T&Cs") govern the campaign ("Campaign"), organised by United MileagePlus (“MP”), and enables MileagePlus members to earn 20% bonus MileagePlus miles (“Bonus MileagePlus miles”) when they convert their Star Alliance Points (“Star Alliance Points”) to MileagePlus miles (“Base MileagePlus miles”) as prescribed by MP from time to time in its sole and absolute discretion. This Campaign commences on 14 February 2025, 0000hrs (AEST) and ends 15 May 2025, 2359hrs (AEST) (“Campaign Period”).

This Campaign is open to all MileagePlus members who are Australian resident customers of the HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card and have Star Alliance Points.

A MileagePlus member will earn Bonus MileagePlus miles if they convert their Star Alliance Points into Base MileagePlus miles in a single transaction ("Qualifying Transaction").

There is no maximum number of Bonus MileagePlus miles that a MileagePlus member can earn by participating in this Campaign.

The Bonus MileagePlus miles will be calculated on a per Qualifying Transaction basis and not on the cumulative sum of Base MileagePlus miles converted during the Campaign Period.

Converted Base MileagePlus miles will be credited to a MileagePlus member’s MileagePlus account within 3-4 weeks of the successful completion of the conversion request. The Bonus MileagePlus miles will be credited to a MileagePlus member’s MileagePlus account within 3-4 weeks of the successful completion of the conversion request.

The conversion of Star Alliance Points to Base MileagePlus miles is subject to the terms and conditions set forth by Star Alliance. MileagePlus members will be responsible for any related fees for conversion of Star Alliance Points to MileagePlus miles.

Should there be any refunds or reversal of any Qualifying Transaction that results in the reversal of Base MileagePlus miles under this Campaign, MP will reverse the Bonus  MileagePlus miles awarded in respect of the refunded or reversed Qualifying Transaction.

All decisions made by MP in respect to any matter relating to this Campaign shall be final. MP reserves the right to vary these terms and conditions, terminate or otherwise amend this Campaign without prior notice at its sole and absolute discretion. MP reserves the right to verify the eligibility of participating MileagePlus members.

Miles accrued, awards, and benefits issued are subject to change and are subject to the rules of the United MileagePlus® program, including without limitation the Premier® program (the "MileagePlus Program"), which are expressly incorporated herein.

By participating in the Campaign, each participant agrees that any and all personal data he/she submits (including his/her name, MileagePlus membership number, and email address) may be collected, used, disclosed, or otherwise processed (collectively, “Processed”) by MP. All collection, use and disclosure of participant’s personal data will be in accordance with MileagePlus Privacy Policy

By participating in the Campaign, each participant agrees to comply with and be bound by these T&Cs and MileagePlus Terms & Conditions. Non-compliance with or breach of any of these Terms and Conditions may result in the MileagePlus member being disqualified at any stage of the Campaign.

To be eligible for Fast Track to Star Alliance Gold Status, you must apply and be approved for a new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card and spend $4,000 on eligible purchases within the first 90 days from account opening. Star Alliance Gold status is granted through the corresponding status tier in the Frequent Flyer Program (FFP) of the participating Star Alliance Member Airline you nominate as your Status Airline through the Star Alliance Rewards Program. Refer to the Star Alliance Rewards Terms and Conditions for available status tiers and additional terms and conditions. Status will be granted within 30 days after reaching the qualifying spend of $4,000, provided that your account is active and not in arrears. Your status will be granted until the first anniversary of your account opening or earlier, if you qualify for a higher status with your selected Frequent Flyer Program by any means. You may not be able to receive Star Alliance Gold status with a participating Frequent Flyer Program if you already hold, by any means, an equivalent or higher status with that Program (more information available on the Star Alliance Rewards Terms and Conditions). You may only request status with one participating Frequent Flyer Program each time you qualify and may not switch Programs during the duration of that status. Any status granted under the HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card is withdrawn immediately if you close your HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card account. Offer is limited to new applicants only. Existing HSBC customers transferring from another HSBC credit card or customers who have held a HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card within the last 18 months are ineligible for this offer.

Lounge access extends to Star Alliance Member Airlines, Star Alliance-branded lounges and certain contract and program lounges when travelling on flights operated by Star Alliance Member Airlines.   1. Complimentary Economy Plus and preferred seating access is determined by the highest Premier status of the travelers on the reservation. Complimentary Economy Plus seating for travelers on award tickets is based on the traveler's status at booking for Premier Gold and above, rather than the status of the member whose miles were used to purchase the award ticket. Complimentary (and paid) access/upgrades to Economy Plus are not valid for tickets containing Basic Economy.
