Many visitors to Orlando find that cars are the most convenient way to get around the area, and if you’re renting a car, there are numerous rental companies and gas stations that are easy to find. You should allow plenty of time to reach your destination in case of traffic and be aware that it can be hard to find parking in some spots. If you prefer to let someone else do the driving, taxis are widely available and can be pre-booked. Several shuttles also operate around Orlando and there are lots of bus routes that cover downtown and beyond. The I-Ride Trolley connects many places of interest and can be useful for tourists who don’t have their own cars. You can buy one-day and multi-day passes in many locations.
Visit the budget-friendly Showcase of Citrus lemon plantation and take a tour of the farm on a truck where you can learn more about agriculture and enjoy delicious fruit. Relax in nature in the scenic Mead Botanical Garden, the 50-acre Harry P. Leu Gardens and University of Central Florida Arboretum. Tour Orlando’s diverse museums, including the International Trolley and Train Museum, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens. Have a go at hang gliding at Wallaby Ranch and visit the Jack Kerouac House.
Orlando’s ever-growing dining scene has something to suit all tastes and budgets. There are round-the-clock diners to satisfy any late-night cravings and it shouldn’t be difficult to find somewhere to dine. You’ll also find a strong Caribbean and Puerto Rican influence in popular Orlando dishes, and a huge assortment of global cuisine is available, too. Cuban sandwiches make for a filling and tasty lunch, or a quick dinner on the go, and other favorite local dishes include alligator, oysters and seafood. If you’re in Orlando between October and May, don’t miss the chance to try stone crab claws.
