Whether you're seeking to reduce stress, meet your fitness goals or make a spiritual connection, wellness retreats are the perfect place to relax and recharge. Here are four resorts around the world where you can reconnect with yourself in peace, focus on health and be guided by experts.
Perched on a 60-acre quartz mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Nicoya Peninsula, The Retreat Costa Rica offers guests an escape from the chaos and stress of everyday life. The boutique hotel is designed to facilitate deep relaxation.
Amenities include an outdoor saltwater pool, a yoga studio and a luxurious 8,600-square-foot Vida Mia Spa. For dining, guests will experience true farm-to-table meals at the Sol Terrace restaurant, which sources 80% of its produce from an on-property organic farm.
The rooms offer an opportunity to disconnect, with no phones or television. They have minimal designs to keep the focus on the green surroundings and sounds of nature.
The Art of Living Retreat Center is “where health meets happiness,” according to their website. Founded in 2012 by spiritual and humanitarian leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the 380-acre resort is nestled within the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, a two hour drive from Charlotte, NC. The center emphasizes Ayurveda wellness (holistic medicine) at its Ayurveda Spa, featuring signature programs like Panchakarma cleanses and Ayurvedic cooking classes, alongside various happiness, silence and meditation retreats.
In addition to daily yoga and meditation, the center offers guided hiking, Kirtan (community singing and ancient chants), a pottery studio and nature walks.
The Art of Living’s food is inspired by the Ayurvedic principle to eat produce grown in the sun, soil, wind and water that is full of nature’s prana (life force). So, the kitchen operates under a vegetarian, whole foods-based mindset, creating meals that are deeply nourishing and intentional.
