Text messaging

United offers text messaging service that allows you to receive flight information on your mobile device. Please see the text messaging terms and conditions below for full details, including possible fees associated with text messaging.

Text messaging service is not available in all countries.

Text messaging terms and conditions

By opting in for text messaging service, you, the user, agree to the Terms and Conditions for United as well as our Privacy Policy. You also agree to the following as it pertains to specific usage of the text messaging service:

Usage

User acknowledges that text messages are distributed via third-party mobile network providers and therefore United cannot control certain factors relating to message delivery. User acknowledges that, depending on the recipient's mobile provider service, it may not be possible to transmit the text message to the recipient successfully.

United does not claim or guarantee availability or performance of this service, including liability for transmission delays or message failures.

Flight status notification subscription

Flight status notification subscription is a service for MileagePlus members that will notify you every time you travel. You will receive notifications if your flight is on time, delayed or canceled as well as when you can check in online and print your boarding documents.

Text messaging is available only to U.S. mobile carriers. Supported carriers are AT&T, U.S. Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Cricket, Boost, Virgin Mobile USA and T-Mobile. Message and Data Rates May Apply. Messaging frequency varies based on customer preferences and the status of flight operations.

Opt-in: To opt in to United's flight status notification subscription text messaging, go to the Phone Settings section of your profile at united.com. Select View all under your primary phone number and then Edit for the mobile device on which you wish to receive texts. Check the text messaging option and save your settings. You will also need to update your settings on the Flight Status Notifications page. No confirmation will be sent at this time. You will receive a confirmation message to opt in at the time when a United message is delivered to your mobile device. In order to view your message alert from United, you must reply to the opt-in message with "YES". This only needs to be done once, unless you opt out and then opt back in.

Opt-out: You may opt out by text messaging the letters "STOP" to 26266 from your mobile device.

Flight reminders

Flight reminders allow you to be notified on an hourly basis of your flight's departure/arrival time, without a MileagePlus account.

Text messaging is available only to U.S. mobile carriers. Supported carriers are AT&T, U.S. Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Cricket, Boost, Virgin Mobile USA and T-Mobile. Message and Data Rates May Apply. Messaging frequency varies based on customer preferences and the status of flight operations.

Opt-in: To opt in to receive flight reminders, text "YES" to the number 26266, and you will receive a confirmation message. You will then be able to receive the flight reminders you have requested.

Opt-out: To opt out of flight reminder text messaging service, simply text "STOP" to 26266 from your mobile device. No further action is needed.

Text message troubleshooting

If you are not receiving your text messages from United, check that you have replied "YES" to the opt-in confirmation message. If you no longer have the confirmation message on your mobile device you may opt in by texting "YES" to 26266. For more information, text “HELP” to 26266.

Fees

United does not charge a fee for text messaging service. While we do not charge for this service, we are not responsible for any charges from a person's service provider that may result from our providing this service. It is the user's responsibility to check with their individual carrier, as message and data rates may apply. United assumes no responsibility for charges incurred by signing up for this text messaging service. Any text messaging fees that you incur will be billed on your individual mobile provider bill.
