United is testing a program offering inflight entertainment tablet rentals on 777-200 aircraft flying between Honolulu and Chicago O'Hare, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Guam. These SamsungTM Galaxy Tab® S tablets are pre-loaded with the following types of entertainment programming:

  • Movies and TV shows (English programming and some selections available in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish)
  • Music videos and recorded concert performances provided by Vevo®
  • eMagazines
  • Interactive games
  • Audiobooks

Please note that these tablets are not enabled to connect to Inflight Wi-Fi or to access our Personal Device Entertainment service. They are only able to play pre-loaded entertainment options.

To determine if a flight offers this tablet rental program, you can check the Inflight Amenities tab for an upcoming flight on the Flight Status and Information page or listen for the announcement by your flight crew.

Children who are traveling without an adult are not allowed to rent tablets, as some content may not be appropriate for young audiences.

You can use your own headphones, as long as they have a single-pin plug, or ask a flight attendant for complimentary earbuds.
