Partnering to bring Brazil and the U.S. closer together
Earning Premier qualifying miles (PQM) and Premier qualifying segments (PQS)
We've created an exciting strategic partnership with Azul Brazilian Airlines, to offer more flight options and more convenient connections between the United States and destinations throughout Brazil.
Azul serves more cities in Brazil than any other airline, with more than 800 daily flights to more than 100 destinations. Their extensive route network within Brazil, paired with United's global reach, will make it easy for travelers to get wherever they're going. In addition, our partnership will enable United and Azul to provide a smoother connection for customers at key airports in Brazil.
And as of March 21, 2016, MileagePlus members can earn PQM and PQS on select Azul-operated flights. For complete details, see the Premier Qualification section of the Azul airline partner page.
Earning and using award miles
Through our partnership, you can earn MileagePlus award miles on all qualifying Azul Brazilian Airlines flights, and you can easily use them to book award travel on Azul.
With a fleet of more than 130 aircraft and more than 10,000 employees, Azul operates approximately one third of Brazil's daily flight departures, including more than 50 daily flights from São Paulo's Guarulhos International Airport. The quality of Azul's service has earned the airline many national and international awards over the years. In 2015, for the fifth year in a row, Azul was named by Skytrax World Airline Awards as the "Best low-cost airline in South America." In 2014, Azul also received the FlightStats Award as the "Airline with best on-time performance in South America" and was recognized as the most on-time airline in Brazil, according to Infraero criteria, as well as being named the "Best low-cost carrier in the world" by CAPA – Centre for Aviation.
