Our partnership with Clean the World

United is proud to be the first airline to partner with Clean the World, an organization that works to prevent millions of hygiene-related deaths each year.

Since our partnership began, United employees have collected more than 80,000 pounds of unused items from our amenity kits. These items are sent to Clean the World, with the organization redistributing them to those in need, reducing the morbidity rate of hygiene-related illnesses and encouraging vigorous child development.

How we help their cause

Dyson

Step 1

United collects unused portions of our premium cabin amenity kits, including toothpaste, hand sanitizer and facial moisturizer, and sends them to Clean the World.

Step 2

Volunteers at Clean the World sort and separate the items from United, as well as other partners from the hospitality industry.

Step 3

United volunteers repack the items into new hygiene kits, which are then donated to local organizations that help women, children and veterans get back on their feet after illness, injury or abuse.

A timeline of events

Dyson

2016

In 2016, our employees collected more than 23,000 pounds of unused items from our amenity kits and volunteered to assemble those items into more than 15,000 hygiene kits at our hubs. These new kits were given to aid organizations in the communities we serve, as well as those impacted by natural disasters.

2017

In 2017, our employees collected more than 58,000 pounds of unused items from our amenity kits and hosted hygiene kit-building events at 11 of our airports around the world, including Boston, Cleveland, Frankfurt, Guam, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Mexico City, New York LaGuardia, Orlando, Phoenix and Seattle. Because of these events, we helped build more than 20,000 new hygiene kits.
