Flexible booking options
Get more flexibility when you fly with our 24-hour booking policy and no change fees for most flights (including award travel).
Change fees
Whether or not you have to pay a fee to change your flight depends on where you’re flying and the type of ticket.
If you’re flying on an Economy, Economy Plus® or a premium cabin ticket, your change fees are waived for the following:
Domestic flights within the U.S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands
Flights between the U.S. and Mexico
Flights between the U.S. and the Caribbean
International flights originating in the U.S.
If you’re flying on a Basic Economy ticket, you can’t change your flight unless you upgrade to Economy or a premium cabin first. International flights that don’t originate in the U.S. can be changed but change fees still apply.
24-hour booking policy
With our 24-hour booking policy you can make changes to your reservation within 24-hours of buying your ticket without paying a fee. But there are a few rules:
- You must book your flight at least one week in advance.
- You must cancel or change your flight within 24 hours of the time you made your reservation.
- If you have a Basic Economy ticket or booked your flight using Money + Miles, you can’t make changes but you can cancel for a full refund.
Plan your trip
Book your next trip knowing if your plans change our policies have you covered.
Flying standby
Our standby policy also gives you more freedom when traveling. You can try to take an earlier flight on the same day as your scheduled flight by joining the standby list. This list is free to join.
