Yes. If you have a Basic Economy ticket, you can upgrade to Economy Plus at check-in.
You can get a refund for Economy Plus if you buy it with your flight and cancel within 24 hours or if you have a refundable ticket and decide to cancel your trip.
Economy Plus upgrades from Economy or Basic Economy are nonrefundable.
No. If you change your flight, you will get an automatic refund and have to repurchase Economy Plus for your new flight.
If we move you out of Economy Plus, you will get an automatic refund.
If there is a schedule change or your flight is canceled, we will try to give you an Economy Plus seat on your new flight. If there are no Economy Plus seats available, or you are rebooked on another airline, you will get an automatic refund.
Yes. You can earn 1 point for each U.S. dollar spent (excluding taxes and fees), or 1 point for every 100 MileagePlus miles redeemed after you complete your trip. Yes. You can earn 1 point for each U.S. dollar spent (excluding taxes and fees) or 1 point for every 100 MileagePlus miles redeemed for the Economy Plus subscription. If the subscription is a gift, the recipient will get a PQP credit after it is activated. For more information, visit the PQP FAQ page.
Valid for travel on United and United Express only. Star Alliance® or marketed codeshare flights do not provide Economy Plus seating. Economy Plus purchases reserves seats within the Economy Plus seating area. Specific seat assignments are not guaranteed. Economy Plus purchases are processed based on seat availability at time of purchase.
Premier qualifying points (PQP) earned from Economy Plus purchases count towards earning for all Premier status levels. PQP earned from Economy Plus purchases also count towards earning incremental PlusPoints for eligible members.
PQP accrual on Economy Plus purchases will be determined based upon the accrual structure in effect at the time of travel, not at the time that the seat is purchased, booked or reserved, or the time that retro-credit is requested. You must provide your MileagePlus number and have the flights posted to your account to earn PQP.
The ability to redeem miles for an Economy Plus seat purchase is available only for flights entirely within the 50 United States that are operated by United or United Express.
You'll get an automatic refund for your Economy Plus seat if your flight is canceled or changed, you end up flying in standard economy due to a travel disruption, or you buy a premium cabin seat of equal or greater value to your Economy Plus seat. If a Complimentary Premier Upgrade is issued, then the Economy Plus purchase is not eligible for a refund.
If you purchased a preferred or Economy Plus seat before upgrading to United First, United Business or United Polaris business, you’ll be automatically refunded for that seat. If you have not received your refund within 20 days, submit a refund request.
All refunds are credited to the original form of payment used. Credit card refunds will be processed within 7 business days. All other refunds will be processed within 20 business days. If the refund doesn’t post within one billing cycle, contact your credit card company for information.
