- How do I use DIRECTV®?
Just swipe any major credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Card and Diners Club/Carte Blanche) or debit card (MasterCard and Visa), and you will be instantly taken to the Channel Guide to select your program. DIRECTV® is available from the time you board the aircraft until the door opens at the next gate.
If you have purchased your DIRECTV® access in advance, simply swipe the credit card you used to make the purchase when at your seat. You will not be charged again.
- Does the fee give me access to DIRECTV® for my entire trip?
No, there is a charge for each flight segment for which you choose to access DIRECTV®.
- If my equipment doesn't work, am I able to request a refund?
You can request a refund by contacting United Customer Service. When filling out the United Customer Service form, please include the last four digits of the credit card used to expedite processing.
- Do I need a special headset?
You can use your own single-pin headset or after you purchase DIRECTV access, please ask a flight attendant for complimentary earbuds.
- How many channels are available?
You can access more than 100 channels of DIRECTV® plus recorded programming such as premium movies, sitcoms, dramas and more.
- How do I turn my screen off if I am not interested?
Press the brightness minus button or the button labeled "off" on the passenger remote control until the screen goes dark.
- Can I watch live programming at any time?
Because the system is run via satellite, you will not have access to live programming for flights that travel out of range. At this time, you will have access to previously recorded programming.
- If I purchase a movie, can I watch it at any time?
No. All movies start approximately 20 minutes after the door closes. Prior to the movie starting, movie trailers will be running.
- Can I watch programming in Spanish?
Yes. All movies will have a Spanish version available.
