This year, instead of Octoberfest in Bavaria, why not visit Napa Valley for the crush season festivities. Locals whisper that Napa's also a great place to visit in the winter when there are no crowds. With temperatures hovering around 19 C and endless sunny days on hundreds of miles of beaches, even if you're more drawn to the bright lights of Hollywood, or a Palm Springs golf course, there isn't a bad season or reason to visit California.
