United Airlines Launches Washington-Moscow Service with Fare Sale, Bonus Miles

, Jan. 29, 2009 – United Airlines is launching the first-ever nonstop service linking Washington, D.C. with Moscow with red-hot deals to Red Square and a bonus-mile offer that make the airline’s latest capital-to-capital addition more affordable and more rewarding.

The inaugural flight is scheduled to depart Washington Dulles on March 29.

Sample fares to Moscow are each way, based on required roundtrip purchase by Feb. 18 for travel Mondays through Thursdays between April 3 and May 14:

  • $369 – Washington, D.C.
  • $432 – Los Angeles
  • $477 – San Francisco
  • $463 – Seattle
  • $410 – Houston
  • $421 – Denver
  • $384 – Chicago
  • $356 – Boston
  • $327 – New York


Mileage Plus® members can also earn bonus miles on United flights to and from Moscow. Customers who purchase by March 29 and fly between March 29 and June 30 on a qualifying United roundtrip between the United States and Moscow can earn:

  • 10,000 bonus miles for United First (F and A booking classes)
  • 7,500 bonus miles for United Business (C, D and Z booking classes)
  • 5,000 bonus miles for United Economy in Y, B, M and H classes
  • 3,000 bonus miles in other booking classes of United Economy

FARE FACTS: Fares are each way based on required roundtrip purchase for United Economy® travel on United Airlines®, Lufthansa and United Express® carriers. For tickets purchased through United reservation offices or at airport ticket counters, additional reservation fees will apply: $25 for United reservation office bookings and $30 for airport ticket counter bookings. No reservation fees are added for tickets purchased at united.com. Fees are subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply. U.S. and Canada tickets are non-refundable. No changes may be made after ticketed departure date for any portion of the ticket. Tickets whose reservations are cancelled prior to the ticketed departure date are valid for travel one year from the original issuance date for a service charge of $250. Changes made on or before departure are subject to fare rules and a service charge of $250. If a reservation is not cancelled before the ticketed departure date, the ticket has no value.
