Taking Hemispheres to Even Greater Heights
CHICAGO, Dec. 15, 2008 – United Airlines, Inc. has selected Ink Publishing to produce Hemispheres, United’s award-winning inflight magazine, now in its 16th year of publication.
The selection of Ink follows a review of proposals from a number of specialty publishing firms. Headquartered in London and with offices in New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and Atlanta, Ink Publishing produces more inflight magazines than any other company in the world. The company will produce its first Hemispheres issue with the March 2009 edition. Pace Communications previously produced Hemispheres.
“We greatly appreciate the high level of commitment and integrity that Pace has brought to this important onboard amenity,” said Dennis Cary, United senior vice president and chief marketing and customer officer. “With Ink’s extensive experience and international presence, we see a key opportunity to take Hemispheres to a new level – both creatively, for the benefit of our loyal readers, and commercially as we align United’s brand with other companies interested in reaching our customers.”
Jeffrey O’Rourke, chief executive of Ink Publishing, said: “It is honor to be appointed to publish Hemispheres. It is the crown jewel of inflight magazines, and we look forward to working with United to continue to make it the most dynamic and engaging magazine in the air.”
Hemispheres has earned more than 300 awards for editorial features and design from the Custom Publishing Council, the North American Travel Journalists Association, Communication Arts, and the Society of Publication Designers, among others. In 2007, Mediamark Research & Intelligence (MRI) designated Hemispheres as the national publication with the most affluent readership, higher than The Wall Street Journal, Barron's and Fortune, as well as a number of national travel magazines.
