United Airlines is Making it More Convenient for Customers to Customize their Trip with the Comforts of Economy Plus
November 21, 2008

CHICAGO, Nov. 21, 2008 – United is working with one of the major travel distribution companies to make it even more convenient for customers to purchase an upgrade to its popular Economy Plus seats that provide more room to work or rest on a flight. United's Economy Plus seats have up to five more inches of legroom and are located at the front of the economy cabin.

"Eight out of ten customers who have purchased an upgrade to Economy Plus say they will do so again,” says Dennis Cary, chief marketing and customer officer. “We are responding to the popularity of Economy Plus by making it easier for our customers to choose these seats, while also providing them with more opportunities to conveniently customize their trip.”

Earlier this year, United launched a new section on its web site, united.com/traveloptions, which enables customers to purchase an upgrade to its Economy Plus seats and other Travel Options by UnitedSM any time before they travel.

In spring of 2009, customers who book their travel through a travel agency that uses the Sabre distribution system will be able to purchase an upgrade to Economy Plus from their travel agent. Economy Plus seats are complimentary for members of United’s Mileage Plus program who hold at least premier status in the program.
