United Appoints Vice President - Financial Planning & Analysis; Vice President - Employee Experience; Vice President - Mileage Plus

CHICAGO, July 31, 2007 – UAL Corporation (NASDAQ: UAUA), the holding company whose primary subsidiary is United Airlines, today announced that Rohit Philip was named vice president - Financial Planning and Analysis; Todd Arkenberg was named vice president - Employee Experience; and Robert Sahadevan was named vice president - Mileage Plus.

 

In his new role as vice president - Financial Planning and Analysis, Rohit Philip will be responsible for business development and overseeing the company’s operating and capital plans. He succeeds Kathryn Mikells, who was named vice president - Investor Relations.

 

Philip joined United in 1995 and has held a number of leadership roles in the finance organization and within UAL Loyalty Services, where he was vice president of finance and business development. He also served as managing director of United’s restructuring office, and most recently, he was assistant treasurer. Philip also played a critical role in leading several significant financial transactions, including United’s recent aircraft refinancing plans and the sale of the company’s stake in online travel agencies.

 

“We look forward to Rohit leading the group in which he started at United. He has extensive experience and capability and will provide strong leadership for our business development and financial planning teams,” said Greg Taylor, senior vice president - Corporate Planning and Strategy, to whom Philip will report.

 

In his newly created position, Arkenberg will work with the Operations, Customer Experience, Human Resources and Communications teams and pull resources from across the company to lead and coordinate numerous company wide initiatives to improve the employee work environment. These initiatives include employee recognition, leadership development and providing tools and training to enable employees to deliver superior service to our customers.

Todd will align work across the company to ensure that we are creating consistency for our employees and a work environment where our people are engaged and motivated,” said Pete McDonald, United’s chief operating officer, to whom Arkenberg will report.

 

Arkenberg joined United in 1986, has served in a number of leadership roles across the operation. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of United Express where he was responsible for overseeing the operation and scheduling of United Express partners.

 

As vice president - Mileage Plus, Robert Sahadevan will lead the unit which is responsible for the company’s frequent flyer program and associated marketing. He will have overall profit and loss responsibility for the organization, which is an $800 million business, with 48 million enrolled members.   He will report to Dennis Cary, senior vice president - Marketing. 

 

“Robert brings a breadth of financial and marketing expertise to his new role that will enable United to continue to improve Mileage Plus as well as explore strategic possibilities for the industry’s best loyalty program,” Cary said.

 

Sahadevan was named to head Mileage Plus earlier this month.  Having joined United in 1997, Robert previously served as senior vice president of UAL Loyalty Services and most recently as managing director-Investor Relations.
