May 12, 2006

With increased service beginning in June, United plans to fill 100 new positions throughout Hawaii

CHICAGO, May 12, 2006 – With the busy summer travel season under way, United announced today that it will start increased service between Hawaii and the mainland on June 8, to meet strong customer demand.  The airline will continue to offer customers the most service between the mainland and Hawaii with two new weekend and three additional daily flights. Additionally, this service increase represents an additional 21 weekly flights to Hawaii compared to last summer, bringing the total amount of weekly summer flights to 227.

As part of this increase, United will launch new weekend service between San Diego and Honolulu, and Seattle and Honolulu.  This will give customers the opportunity to fly on United to Hawaii from six mainland cities, which also include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and Chicago.  United will also add three daily flights departing from Los Angeles with service to Lihue, Kona and Maui to complement its five times per day service from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Honolulu, and its four times per day service from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Maui.

To meet the needs of its customers, United plans to fill 100 additional positions in Hawaii.  The airline will begin recruiting for positions in customer service, ramp service and reservations sales and service on May 15.  More information on career opportunities at United is available at www.united.com/careers.

"Since 1947, United Airlines has been a partner to Hawaii and its economy,” says Governor Linda Lingle of Hawaii. “The announcement of increased flights and new employment opportunities for our residents reiterates United’s commitment to the visitor industry and our economy."

"We're launching our new service to Hawaii as we celebrate United's 59th year of service to the islands -- longer than any other mainland carrier," says Kevin Knight, United's vice president of Resource Planning.  "We're pleased to offer our customers even more convenient travel options this summer to this historically popular vacation destination."

In addition to its existing service between the mainland and Hawaii, United currently offers daily service between Honolulu and Osaka, Japan; and Honolulu and Tokyo, Japan.

In 2005, United flew 1.9 million passengers and 99 million tons of cargo to Hawaii.
