On March 28, 2010, United's partner, Aer Lingus, began offering new daily, nonstop, capital-to-capital service from Washington, D.C. (IAD) to Madrid, Spain (MAD).

To qualify for this offer, members must register, then purchase and complete one paid qualifying roundtrip between the 50 United States, Canada, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands and Madrid, Spain on United®, United Express®, including the United marketed / Aer Lingus Operated flights (UA 4963 and UA 4962) within the designated ticketing and travel periods. For this offer, a roundtrip is defined as travel from an origin city to a destination city with return travel beginning in the outbound destination city back to the first origin city with all segments on United or United Express; a segment is defined as one takeoff and one landing.
On qualifying flights, registered members can earn 5,000 miles on business-class fares (J, C, D or Z); 3,000 miles on select economy-class fares (Y, B, or M); or 1,500 miles on other economy-class fares (H, Q, V, W fares).

Passenger must be a member of United’s Mileage Plus® frequent flyer program for travel to qualify for this offer. Flights must be credited to the Mileage Plus account in order to qualify.

Bonus miles apply to base flight miles only and do not count toward elite status. Bonus is in addition to paid flight miles and any applicable elite or class-of-service bonuses. Bonus miles will post six to eight weeks after completed qualifying activity.
