We value the opportunity to partner with civic, business and government organizations to help local communities prosper. We are committed to civic engagement that addresses the economic development of our communities.
Our relationships with our nonprofit and civic partners are important to us, as they give us all the opportunity to contribute as volunteers and serve on boardsso we are able to share our experience and ideas to benefit the communities we serve.

Civic engagement
We are committed to civic engagement that promotes the future prosperity of the communities we serve. We contribute a strong voice to many business and nonprofit organizations that strive to make our communities better places to live, work and conduct business. We are especially active in local chambers of commerce and economic development organizations. Our executives are committed to business organizations in our communities, speaking at programs, serving on the boards and participating as active members of key nonprofit business and civic organizations.

Supplier diversity
We invite diverse businesses to compete for contract award opportunities by participating in our standardized competitive sourcing process. Our supplier diversity program ensures that we identify certified and qualified women- and minority-owned businesses and that they submit bids where appropriate. We focus on attracting first-tier diverse supplier partners and also ask our primary business partners to identify and report second- and third-tier spending associated with our business. Since 2000, we have spent nearly $1 billion in non-fuel procurement dollars with diverse suppliers who meet ownership classifications for minority-owned businesses. These businesses reach our high standards for quality, overall value, reliability, service and financial stability.
