Mileage Plus program changes
Elites to receive status benefits and upgrades on Continental |
Mileage Plus Elites already enjoy complimentary Economy Plus seating and will soon receive Unlimited Domestic Upgrades when flying United. We're happy to announce that you'll also enjoy similar privileges when you fly our newest partner airline, Continental. These new benefits will begin to roll out in mid-2010.
United Elites flying on Continental will enjoy:
- Elite Upgrades – When you book a ticket on an eligible Continental flight, enter your Mileage Plus number, and you'll automatically be added to their upgrade waiting list. No certificates needed. If an upgrade seat becomes available for you, it's yours.
- Premium Seating – At any time from booking through check-in, you can request a window or aisle seat in the front of the Economy cabin.

1K® members will continue to earn Regional Upgrades |

With the addition of Unlimited Domestic Upgrades, United now offers the most comfortable seats for elite members, automatically. Only Mileage Plus offers:
Unlimited Domestic Upgrades for all elite members—even on flights to Hawaii
- There's no need to request an upgrade—United® will automatically request one on your behalf.
- One companion traveling with you may also be upgraded.
The ability for top-tier elite members to earn unlimited Systemwide Upgrades – The more you fly, the more you earn!
- Earn two additional Systemwide Upgrades for every 50,000 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQM) earned above 100,000.
- Upgrades may be confirmed as early as time of ticketing.
Unlimited access to Economy Plus® seating for all elite members – Enjoy more room to stretch out and relax
- One companion traveling on the same flight can enjoy Economy Plus with you.
- Economy Plus is also available on many United Express flights.

Elimination of close-in fees |
Redeem a last minute travel award, no longer pay a fee
On July 30, 2009 we removed the close-in award processing fee, becoming the first airline to do so.
Now, you can book a Mileage Plus® Award ticket less than 21 days in advance and pay no close-in award processing fees.
We understand that you're looking for an easier redemption experience, and we're happy to say we are leading the way. It's yet another way Mileage Plus is working to bring you more value for your loyalty.
