There is a per-ticket fee of USD 25 for booking award tickets through United Reservations. If you use a United ticketing counter, the per-ticket fee is USD 30. After June 15, 2011, both fees will be USD 25.

Effective June 15, 2011, there will be a fee for award tickets booked less than 21 days prior to departure: USD 75 for General members, USD 50 for Premier members and USD 25 for Premier Executive members.

2) Fees for a change or cancellation
a)
If you want to change your itinerary for any award ticket, you must use a United Reservations agent or United ticketing counter. There are fees for some changes, so please check this list for details. These fees apply to Mileage Plus awards on United, United Express, Star Alliance airline partners and other partner airlines.
If you have a confirmed Mileage Upgrade Award and prior to travel you choose to cancel the upgrade, the miles will be returned to the account and a redeposit fee may be charged: 150 USD for general members, 125 USD for Premier members, 100 USD for Premier Executive members.

Important notes:
When requesting a change for more than one ticket, the fee applies to each ticket separately. If two people are traveling together and make a change, for example, there will be a fee for both.
Also, when flying with one of our Star Alliance partners, you will need to make your changes at least 24 hours before departure.
