United history

No other carrier has played a bigger role in the development of the airline industry than United, which traces its beginnings back to the industry's first contract air mail flight on April 6, 1926. The Age of Flight, published in 2001 to commemorate United's 75th anniversary, tells the company's history through more than 280 images of early operations, memorabilia and more. The book highlights many United "firsts," including the industry's first stewardess service and first flight kitchen. It is available to the public for $19.95 at www.bookworld.com.
