United marks its 75th anniversary, tracing its beginnings back to Walter T. Varney's first contract air mail flight between Pasco, Washington, and Elko, Nevada, on April 6, 1926. That flight was the true beginning of U.S. commercial air transportation and the birth of United Airlines. To commemorate its momentous anniversary, United publishes The Age of Flight. Through archival photos, the book chronicles the company's many firsts in the industry, including the first stewardesses, flight kitchen and transcontinental passenger service. Copies of the book are available for purchase at www.bookworld.com.
