UAL Corp. announces appointment of Glenn F. Tilton as chairman, president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. He succeeds Jack Creighton, who retires from the interim position he assumed Oct. 28, 2001, when Jim Goodwin resigned. Tilton, who is the former chairman and CEO of Texaco, Inc., also had served as vice chairman of ChevronTexaco Corp. since the two energy companies merged in October 2001. He was named to the additional role of interim chairman of Dynegy Inc. in May 2002. In coming to United, Tilton resigns from his positions at the other companies in order to focus exclusively on his duties at the airline.
