United history

Ten years after publishing one issue of its pioneering inflight magazine, Mainliner Traveler, United begins regular production of an inflight magazine and calls it simply Mainliner.   United's inflight magazine changed in design and content, but kept the Mainliner name until 1983, when UNITED magazine was born.  When United's name was changed to Allegis in 1987, the inflight magazine became VISaVIS and focused on travel stories and interviews with celebrity entertainers, athletes and artists.  In 1992, to reflect United's growth into a global carrier, the magazine became HEMISPHERES and continues to be published under that name today.  It contains a mix of articles on travel, business and the arts and is the most award-winning inflight magazine in the industry.
