A symbol of inflight luxury in its time, the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser was put into service by United on its San Francisco-Honolulu route on January 15, 1950. The aircraft accommodated 55 passengers and featured lounges on the main and lower decks, as well as berths for overnight travel.
