United history

At United's "push button" overhaul base in San Francisco, Calif., aircraft engines were subjected to rigorous inspections, cleaning, repair and reassembly before being returned to the line in "good-as-new" condition. The repair facility, opened in 1948, featured state-of-the-art technology in aircraft overhaul and modification.
