United history

A Douglas DC-6 Mainliner awaits an engine inspection at what United called its "push button" overhaul base in San Francisco, which opened in 1948. Lighting in the ceiling and floor gives proper illumination. There are convenient outlets for vacuuming and compressed air lines, electricity, cleaning solvents and lubricating oil.
