United history

United led the way as the first U.S. airline to offer a sleeper seat that lies flat when United First SuiteSM debuted on March 5, 1999 on a flight from San Francisco to London. United First Suite provides international United First customers with a roomy seat that can be an office workspace or recline 180 degrees to form a six-foot, six-inch bed. The company designed the seat with input from its frequent fliers and employees, as well as ergonomic experts.
