United history

On March 3, 1997, United entered the international freighter market with Douglas DC-10 all-cargo operations, linking Chicago, Anchorage, Osaka and Manila. The service, called United Worldwide Cargo, was expanded later that year to add two more Douglas DC-10-30F freighters and three additional destinations - San Francisco and Tokyo in September and Seoul in October. In late 1998, as part of a redesign of United's image, the cargo service was renamed United Cargo.
