Award Accelerator

Earn extra award miles on your next flight. Add the Award Accelerator® option to your reservation to increase your mileage balance with more award miles.

If you have an eligible itinerary, you will be given the option to purchase Award Accelerator when you view your reservation on united.com or when you check in online or at an airport kiosk.

Premier Accelerator

Achieve MileagePlus Premier® status faster by adding the Premier Accelerator℠ option to your Award Accelerator purchase. Premier Accelerator allows you to purchase additional Premier qualifying miles on qualifying flights.

If you have an eligible itinerary, you will first be given the option to select Award Accelerator when you view your reservation on united.com or when you check in online or at an airport kiosk. Upon selecting one of the Award Accelerator options presented, you will then have the opportunity to add Premier Accelerator.

Personal Miles

Purchasing Personal Miles® is perfect when you don’t have sufficient award miles. You can apply these miles toward award travel on United or any Star Alliance® or MileagePlus airline partner. You can also use these miles for an upgrade or other awards such as hotel stays, car rentals, name-brand merchandise and more.

Award Accelerator®

A federal excise tax of 7.5% is included in the displayed price.
These miles will be credited to your MileagePlus account within 24 hours of purchase.

Premier Accelerator℠

All Premier qualifying miles purchased are nonrefundable.
A federal exercise tax of 7.5% is included in the displayed price.
These qualifying miles will be credited to your MileagePlus account within 24 hours of purchase.
The qualifying miles you purchase with Premier Accelerator are Premier qualifying miles and do count toward Premier® qualification within a calendar year.
Purchased qualifying miles are subject to all MileagePlus terms and conditions.

Personal Miles®

Personal Miles cost $35 per 1,000 award miles, plus a 7.5% excise tax.
Purchase up to 100,000 miles per account per calendar year.
There is a minimum purchase of 2,000 miles per purchase for each MileagePlus account.
Miles are available in 1,000-mile increments.
Your credit card will be billed immediately upon purchase.
Allow 48 hours for miles to process and post to the MileagePlus account.
Miles are nonrefundable.
The miles you purchase with Personal Miles are award miles and do not count toward Premier® qualification.
All standard MileagePlus program rules and conditions apply.
Program fees and mileage rates are subject to change.

Award Accelerator® and Premier Accelerator℠

Are Award Accelerator and Premier Accelerator offered for all flights?
Award Accelerator and Premier Accelerator are valid for most types of tickets, including award tickets. The specific number of miles offered for purchase may vary based on the length of your flight and type of ticket. In these cases, miles available for purchase may not be directly related to the miles you'll be earning for your flight. Certain types of tickets may be excluded.

When will the miles I purchase post to my account?
Miles purchased with Award Accelerator and Premier Accelerator will post to your account within 24 hours of purchase. The actual flight miles you'll earn for your trip will still post upon completion of your flight.

Why did I see a different offer online than I did during check-in?
When you purchase miles during online check-in or at an airport kiosk, offers are based on the flights for which you are checking in. When purchasing miles on united.com outside of check-in, offers are based on the total remaining flights in your reservation.

What happens if I change or cancel my flight after purchasing?
All Award Accelerator and Premier Accelerator purchases of miles are nonrefundable. You'll be able to keep any miles you've purchased even if you change or cancel your trip. This also applies when your flight is rerouted or interrupted due to conditions outside of your control.

Personal Miles®

How do Personal Miles work?
In order to buy MileagePlus miles for your account, you must be a current MileagePlus member in good standing. A combined total of 100,000 award miles may be purchased per account per calendar year through MileagePlus Personal Miles and/or MileagePlus Give Miles®. A MileagePlus account number is required when buying miles. Your credit card will be billed immediately for this transaction.

MileagePlus award travel seats are subject to capacity controls. All standard MileagePlus program rules and conditions apply. Please allow 48 hours for your MileagePlus account to be updated. MileagePlus award miles are nonrefundable and non-transferable. Other terms may apply. Program fees and mileage rates are subject to change.

How much do award miles cost? Is there tax on the purchase?
Award miles cost $0.035 USD per mile. In addition, a 7.5% federal excise tax applies and is included in the displayed price. Your credit card will be billed immediately for this transaction.

Can I get a refund for Personal Miles purchases?
Personal Miles purchases are nonrefundable and non-transferable.

How long will it take for Personal Miles purchases to post to my MileagePlus account?
Please allow 48 hours for Personal Miles purchases to post to your MileagePlus account.

How many award miles may I buy through Personal Miles?
You may purchase a maximum of 100,000 award miles per MileagePlus account, per calendar year.

Do my Personal Miles purchases help me qualify for MileagePlus Premier® status?
Personal Miles purchases do not count towards qualification for MileagePlus Premier status levels.

Will the award miles I buy expire?
Award miles purchased through Personal Miles are treated the same as any MileagePlus award miles and are subject to the terms and conditions of the MileagePlus program.
