United gift certificates are available in any amount between $25 and $10,000, and — can be used toward the purchase of all types of air travel.  They’re the perfect gift for your favorite traveler.  Here's how they work:

• When you purchase a United gift certificate, the recipient will receive a personalized email revealing your gift and providing all the necessary information to redeem the gift certificate for airfare.
• You will receive an email confirming your purchase for your records.
• Certificates are fully transferable and automatically retain any unused balances, so any unused amount can be put toward the purchase of additional tickets.
• You can always check your balance on the Check Gift Certificate Balance page.

All transactions will be in USD. Additional taxes and fees may apply.

• You must be signed in as a MileagePlus member in order to purchase gift certificates.
• Redeemable only on the united.com U.S. booking engine (U.S. billing address required). Cannot be redeemed on any other booking engines, as certificate value is in USD.
• Available in any denomination from a minimum of $25 to a maximum of $10,000 per certificate.
• Only forms of payment with billing addresses in the United States and its territories are accepted.
• Certificates purchased August 20, 2010, or later are valid for five years from the date when the certificate is purchased. Certificates purchased prior to August 20, 2010, are valid for one year from the date when the certificate was originally issued.
• If the full amount of the certificate is not used for a transaction, you can use the balance toward the purchase of another ticket within the original validity period.
• The certificate will be null and void if its remaining value is less than $1.00.
• Certificates are only valid for air travel purchases, including ticket, taxes and surcharges.
• Certificates are nonrefundable.
• Certificates are fully transferable until redeemed.
• Not valid in conjunction with any other programs (such as MileagePlus® award travel).
• Valid with any fare types (including united.com Specials and eCertificate redemptions).
• Cannot be used in conjunction with an electronic travel certificate.
• Mileage accrual is allowed in conjunction with applicable fare rules for the ticket being purchased.
• Only one gift certificate may be used per transaction for the purchase of airline tickets.
• The gift certificate will be applied to the total price of the airline ticket(s) in any one transaction.
• Gift certificates may not be sold by anyone other than United Airlines.
• Valid for use on flights operated by United Airlines and United Express® only.
